Background:
Anthony was born in East Harlem. At the age of four his father lost his job and soon was pulled into the life of crime. For a while, Anthony's mother managed to keep her growing son away from the life by protecting him from his father until things began showing up in Anthony's life. At the age of ten he began acting out in school and after the teachers started calling home, Andrea, his mother, knew she would have to leave Michael, his father to protect her son and herself because around that time Michael became extremely physical and verbally abusive toward her. Unfortunately, she found out she was pregnant with his second child. When she told him of her intentions of leaving, he beat her so bad, young Anthony had to fight back on her behalf, lock his father out of the house and called emergency services.
Thankfully, she didn't lose the baby and by the time Anthony was fifteen, he had a brand new baby brother name Cyrus and very troubled. He was kicked out of East Harlem High and his mother picked them up and moved them to Elmont New York trying to get him away from the bad influences around him. The moment Cyrus was born, Anthony knew something had to change. Because he didn't have the same old friends hea ctually began paying attention in school. No one really understood the sudden drastic change in the teenager but they didn't question it. Shortly after his seventeenth birthday, something horrible happened. His mother was killed on her way home when she fell asleep at the wheel. She'd been working two jobs to support her two boys. Cyrus was barely 2 years old and social services wanted to take him. Anthony knew he couldn't let that happened. Though he was devastated he had no time to mouth for he had so much on his plate. He stayed with his grand mother, fast tracking through high school and working to help support both himself and his baby brother. Due to his marks and references from high school he was able to get a full ride scholarship to Brown University - The downside, he'd have to leave his brother with his elderly grandmother. Though he wanted to turn them down, his grandmother insisted on him going. In return, Anthony insisted on getting a part time job once in Providence to send money home to his grandmother to care for her and his brother.
Come September he was on his way to one of the most prestigious universities money could buy. It was there he met his first real girlfriend. Before then he'd dipped into the dating pool but nothing more really substantial. He and Amber grew together and she convinced him to start writing on his first book outside of classes and assignments. She stood by his side for two years until he found out she cheated. Not sure what to do with himself, he broke it off and flung himself deeper into writing, classes and his growing brother Cyrus. The two brothers became close even with their age gaps. Sometimes Anthony had to put his foot down and be the father figure but they were pretty much friends.
It was around his second year when he got word from an old friend that his father Michael was sentenced to life in prison for First Degree Murder. It shattered Anthony's world leaving him lost. He pushed those emotions into his first novel--using it as fuel.
At the age of twenty two, his first novel "Gutter" was released from a majoy publishing house. At that age he had more money than he knew what to do with. It shot up the best seller's listings, garnering him praise from great intelectual minds who were shocked a boy of his background could write such raw, alluring materials. He began working on his second novel "Bro-Hood" right after. At twenty three he graduated Brown with honours.
He settled down with Cyris and his grandmother in a new house but that peace didn't last long. With the release of his second book Bro-Hood came the death of his grandmother. Writing, Cyrus and his ailing grandmother became his life.
